Lawrence J. Sands, 88 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Friday, October 9, 2026, surrounded by his family. Services are pending. 

Lawrence James Sands was born on October 1, 1938 in Anthon, Iowa the son of Robert and Minnie (Austin) Sands. He graduated in 1957 from Westfield High School in Sioux City.

On May 1, 1964 Lawrence was united in marriage to Margaret Place. Lawrence worked for Thorpe and Company Jewelers for 48 years, retiring in 2013. Lawrence enjoyed woodworking and drawing sketches. Lawrence was very active in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Lawrence is survived by his daughter Lorrianne (Garnet Spoonhouse) Rose, grandchildren Jeremiah Rose, Rachel Rose, Matthew Rose and Emily Benton, a great-granddaughter, Eloise Rose, and brother, James.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret in 2017, youngest daughter Janet Benton and four grandchildren.
