Larry W. Bonwell, Sr., 72 of Sioux City, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at his residence. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 5, 2023, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, with visitation one hour prior to service time.

Larry Walsh Bonwell was born on September 4, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Ernest and Mattie (Green) Bonwell. After graduating from High School, he then attended college. Larry enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War on November 17, 1969. He was Honorably Discharge on September 2, 1971. Larry worked as a groundskeeper with the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs and later in construction.

Larry met Janelle Britton in Sioux City and they lived in Kansas City for 13 years before moving to Sioux City in 2009. Larry, also known as the “Dominoes King" (a name he gave himself) was accompanied playing dominoes with his very good friend Derwin also known as “Tripp” and many others, also enjoyed the company from his grandchildren on a daily basis while drinking his Gin, playing cards, listening to music, and also enjoyed fishing. During football season, you would find Larry watching the Kansas City Chiefs. To his grandchildren, they called him Papa, and his brothers and sisters, "Washey".

Larry is survived by his companion Janelle, his children Orlando, Donzell, Chrishawn, Larry, Jr., Celena, Keith, Felicia, Latisha, Kenneth, Rochelle, Sonya, Darrell, and 3 stepchildren Darby, Brandi, and Kyle, siblings: Alfred, Cecil, Tom, Nathan and Gina, 43 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren with 2 on the way!

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Bobby, brother, Ernest, three sisters, Alfreda, Cecilia and Clara, grandson and one great granddaughter.
