Kristin L. “Kris” Minton, 52 of Orange City, formerly of Sergeant Bluff, died Friday, January 21, 2011 at a care facility in Orange City.

Services will be held 11 am Tuesday, January 25th at the Boyden Reformed Church in Boyden with Rev. Matt Draffen officiating. Burial will be in the Boyden-Sheridan Township Cemetery. Visitation with the family will start 9 am Tuesday at the church and continue until time of service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Kris was born on October 26, 1958 in Sioux Center, the daughter of Melvin and Alyce (Hoogland) Brands. She attended school in the Boyden-Hall school district. Kris lived in Sioux City during the early 1980’s to early 90’s, later in Sheldon and in 2007, she moved to Sergeant Bluff. Due to her health, she moved to a care facility in Orange City last week.

Kris is survived by two sons, Michael Brands and Shannon Minton; her daughter Michelle Minton; two grandchildren, Hannah Massey and Jackie Minton; her father, Melvin Brands; one brother, Edward Brands and his wife Bethany; and two sisters, Joleen and her husband Randy Baumgarn and Emily and her husband Jim Hanno; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alyce.
