On April 26, 2024, Kevin Fetterman of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at the age of 61. Kevin battled a rare and aggressive cancer with courage and strength. Throughout this battle, he continued to radiate positivity and resilience. He remained steadfast in his faith with God, commitment to his family and community, never allowing his own struggles to dampen his spirit.
Kevin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His infectious smile lit up every room, never meeting a stranger.
Born in Sioux City, Iowa on Easter Sunday morning in 1963, Kevin, an identical twin, was born to Jim and Darlene. He met his wife, Tamara (Tami) Fetterman, when he was just 18 and she was 15 years old as high school students in Sioux City, Iowa. They married shortly after and have been by each other’s side celebrating their marriage for the last 42 years. Their marriage has brought many happy memories and milestones including their 3 wonderful children and their spouses—Jessica (Brad), Kyle (Margo), and Kevin (Caitlin). Besides being a loving father, Kevin’s heart is filled with love for his grandchildren (Aidan, Carter, Greta, Logan, Jace, Soren, and June). He was actively involved in their lives, and they adored him.
Family was everything to Kevin, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His seven grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy. Whether cheering them on from the stands or delighting them with horsey-back rides at home, Kevin's love knew no bounds.
In addition to his roles as husband, father, and papa, Kevin was deeply committed to serving his community, particularly through his passion for sports officiating. As a longtime football and basketball official, Kevin's dedication and expertise earned him widespread respect. His contributions were recognized with the prestigious President's Award from the Fall Creek Officials Association and the IHSAA.
Kevin's impact extended beyond the field, as he worked tirelessly to recruit, train, and support new officials, ensuring the integrity and spirit of the games he loved. His influence on young athletes was immeasurable, leading to the renaming of the 2024 Avon Youth Sports League's tackle football championship games in his honor as the "Kevin Fetterman Bowl."
Though his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, Kevin's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be cherished forever, and his spirit will continue to inspire us to live with the same passion, humor, and generosity that defined his life.
Kevin Fetterman is survived by his beloved wife Tamara (Tami), who never left his side and held his hand until his last day, children Jessica (Brad) Earnest, Kyle (Margo) Fetterman, Kevin (Caitlin) Fetterman, 7 beautiful grandchildren, parents Jim and Linda Fetterman, sister Darcy (David) Hall, brothers Rick (Eleanor) Fetterman, Kirk Fetterman, Mark Davis, Brian (Melanie)Davis, and many extended family members and friends.
