Kevin J. Belling returned to his Creator on September 11, 2014 at the age of 50 in his residence at Lincoln, Nebraska. On Monday, September 15, a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 7900 Trendwood Drive in Lincoln, to be officiated by Rev. Fr. Jonathan Haschke. On Saturday, September 20, a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Waterbury Funeral Service, 4125 Orleans Avenue in Sioux City, Iowa and Rev. Martha Anderson will preside. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City.
Kevin was born on March 21, 1964 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of the late Hilliard Belling and Irene (Olson) Belling Snider. In 1982, he graduated from East High School in Sioux City. Kevin moved to California working several jobs before he returned to Wayne State College where he graduated with a degree of B.S. in Psychology and a minor in business in 1990.
In 1992, he was married to Kim Teigen and with this union they were blessed with two children, Joshua and Brittany. Kevin and Kim divorced in 2009.
On April 1, 2011, Kevin married to Rose Capasilan from Panabo, Davao, Philippines and to this union two children were born, Jessica (JJ) and Jacob. Kevin was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Kevin began his Subway career in West Point, Nebraska. At the time of his death, he owned eight stores in the Lincoln area and was recently awarded a plaque for 20 years with the Subway corporation. He loved that so many of the stores’ regular customers knew him by name. He cared for his employees and was proud that he was providing for them and their families.
He is survived by his family and loved ones, Rose Belling, his wife; Joshua Belling, Brittany Belling, JJ Belling and Jacob Belling, his children all of Lincoln, Nebraska. His mother, Irene Snider of South Sioux City, Nebraska. His brothers Cary (Beverly) Belling of Pasadena, California; Wes (Jill) Belling of Kirksville, Missouri; his sisters Carol (John) Hantla of Sioux City, Iowa; Camille (Adrian) Hinz of Omaha, Nebraska. And his aunt Gladys Rosberg of Norfolk, Nebraska as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father Hilliard Belling.
Kevin loved traveling to exciting places with his family. He loved watching Minnesota Vikings Football with his son Josh. He was a generous soul who gave with love. He and Rose spent the summer of 2013 in the Philippines and did a charity work of feeding 600 undernourished children.
Memorials may either be sent to Rose Belling at 1265 S. Cotner, Lincoln, NE 68510, to fund the feeding of the undernourished children in the Philippines or may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project.
