Obituary

Kenneth M. "Kenny" Red Owl, 62, of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at his residence. Visitation will begin 4:00 pm, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Four Directions Community Center until 2:00pm Monday, October 26, 2015. A visitation will also be held 3:00pm Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Oyanke Oyate Center in Santee, Funeral service will be 2:00pm Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Oyanke Oyate Center. Burial will follow at the Holy Faith Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Kenny was born on March 31, 1953, in Winnebago, Nebraska, the son of Isaac and Ada (Johnson) Red Owl, Jr. He attended South Sioux City High School and graduated from NICC to become a drug and alcohol counselor. Kenny did volunteer work at Four Directions Community Center. He enjoyed playing bingo, ready, and spending time with his family. Kenny was very outgoing and was known for his great sense of humor. He was an active member of St. Paul's Indian Mission.

Survivors include his daughter Janel (Jason) Ferris of Santee, Nebraska, son Quentin (Jamie) Trudell of Sioux City, brothers Dennis (Debbie) Red Owl of Lincoln, NE, Robert Red Owl of Sioux City, Ronnie (Kim) Red Owl of Sioux City, sister Alice (Red Owl) Rouillard of Santee, NE, 18 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren and one the way.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, five brothers, and special friend Theresa Trudell.
