Kenneth “Ken” R. Alderson Jr., 64, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on January 25, 2024.  A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at New Freedom Church, 423 George St. Sioux City, IA.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Ken was born on May 6, 1959 in Bad Kreuznach, Germany to Kenneth and Dorothy (Domina) Alderson.  His father was stationed in Germany while in the military and the family moved to the United States in 1961.  Ken graduated from West High School in 1977 and enlisted in the United States Military, where he served from 1977 until being honorably discharged in 1980.  He was united in marriage to Connie Keller in June of 1982.  Ken worked at several places throughout Siouxland including: Triple J, Industrial Insulators, Farrells Heating and Cooling and as a manager at Casey’s.  His faith and belief in God gave him strength.  He loved football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeyes.  He was an avid Civil War buff.  He enjoyed walking through Stone State Park, spending time with family and his dogs, and tolerating his cats.  He was an amazing “Gramps” to his three grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Connie Alderson, Sioux City, IA; daughter, Kendra (Adam) Samuelson, Clarinda, IA; grandchildren: Emma, Olivia and Henry; sisters: Gayle (Wallace) Flowers, Williamsburg, VA, Evelyn (Joe) Pippitt, Oto, IA, Twila (Tim) Warren, Sioux City, IA; brother-in-law, Leonard Miller, Sioux City, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret.
