Keith Allen Bales, 69, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 13th at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Keith was born on July 7, 1954, in the backseat of his parents’ car on the way to the hospital in Spirit Lake, IA. After graduating from Kinglsey-Pierson High School in 1972, he went on to study business at Northwestern College. Successively earning his bachelor's degree, he then obtained a degree as a Certified Financial Planner at the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. He had a 40-year career as a Wealth Advisor with Thrivent Financial where he was compassionate about supporting his clients.
In 1973, Keith married Pamela Todd Klingensmith at Salem Lutheran Church in Correctionville, IA. Keith and Pam went on to have two children, Jason, and Kimberley, and had the honor to celebrate 50 years of marriage in 2023.
He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and planning his next trip. He genuinely enjoyed exploring the world with his wife, family, and friends. He was dedicated to giving back to the community and supporting the underserved. He volunteered for the Plymouth County Drug Court Panel where he mentored and advised adolescence to steer them on the right path to a better future; he coached the local Junior High football team; he volunteered for the Soup Kitchen and Siouxland Soldiers; along with other outstanding organizations. In addition, he was passionate about carpentry where he was self-taught and extremely talented with his skill. His patience and perseverance helped him build his beautiful home that he shared with his wife.
Keith was predeceased in death by his parents, Eldred, and Olivene Bales; his brother Donald “Red” and sister-in-law, Timi Bales; father-in-law David Klingensmith.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Bales and two children: Jason (Briana) Bales of Omaha, NE and Kimberley (Michael) Dykeman of South Easton, MA and five grandchildren; Tyler, Brooklyn, Logan, Madisen, and Lucas; mother-in-law, Elaine Klingensmith; three brothers; Larry and Jill Bales of Columbia, MS; Dale and Maria Bales of Indianola, IA; Greg and Anne Bales of Merrill, MI. He was survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
