Kaye N. Ranger-Lefler, 68, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Third Presbyterian Church in Sioux City with Rev. Cathie Bishop officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.
Kaye was born on December 19, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Leighton and June (Warnholtz) Lorenzen. She graduated from East High School in 1965.
Kaye married Al Nelson and together they had three children, they later divorced. She married Ted Ranger, who passed away from leukemia during their marriage. Kaye then married Willy Lefler and they were happily married for 30 years. She graduated from WIT in 1975 with a degree in mechanical engineering and worked at Wilson Trailer as an engineering supervisor in the grain department for 37 years, retiring in 2010.
Kaye was an active member of the Third Presbyterian Church, where she was instrumental in introducing the bell choir, The Jubilation Ringers. She was also a Sunday School teacher, session member, deacon, and influential in starting many mission projects within the church.
Kaye enjoyed the little things in life; a grandchild's ballgame, car shows, road trips to visit her grandkids, listening to the birds in her yard, and grilling out on a Sunday afternoon. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who showed everyday how much she loved her family by her hard work, quiet strength, and her constant and supportive presence in their lives.
Survivors include her husband, Willy, children Karoline Nelson, of Sioux City, Kirk Nelson and his wife Cathy of Urbandale, IA, Kimberly and her husband Gordan Finch of Kirksville, MO, and Rhonda Lemieux and her husband Mike of Ankeny, IA, brothers Gary and his wife Janey Lorenzen of Louisville, KY and Roger and his wife Jennifer Lorenzen of Hornick, IA, 8 grandchildren: Johnny, Keegan, Zach, Caleb, Sophie, Dylan, Johnna, and Cayden, and 1 great-grandchild, Eris.
Kaye was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made in Kaye's name to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
