Katrina Y. "Kat" Hanner, 39 of Sioux City, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 in Sioux City.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday June 10, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites by the US Army. Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 4-8 pm at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City with a Prayer Service at 7 pm.

Katrina was born April 4, 1975 to Steven Hanner and Debra Simmons in Long Beach, CA. She was a lifelong resident of the Sioux City area. She graduated from East High in 1993 enjoying band and flags. She enlisted in the Army in 1992 and served until 1994.

She was a life-long learner, earning many degrees and certificates including a Bachelors and a Masters.
Katrina was blessed with three sons. Zachary (19), Cameron (13), and Brenden (11). She was also guardian to John Twombly and honorary mother to Gaije Emery.

Katrina enjoyed family time, camping, reading, learning, cooking, and helping others. She was a kind soul with a lot to give. She sacrificed everything to help someone in need. She will be missed by many.

Katrina is survived by her sons Zachary, Cameron and Brenden; her parents Steve (Carla) Hanner of Sioux City and Debra Simmons of Hurley, SD; her sisters Sandra (Mike) Headid of Sergeant Bluff, Jaime (Ryan) Chinn of Pierson, Danielle (Kirk) Ulven of Bearsford, SD, Kaye (Neal) Friedricks and Stephenie (James) Hanner of Sioux City, Bobbi (Lars) Paulsen of Hurley, SD, and Charity Pierce of Canistota, SD; her brother Brett Pierce of Sioux City, her granddaughter Makenzie Heinemann of Kansas, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandmothers Ethel, Lois, and Margaret, and Dutch and her Uncle Billy.
