Kathy J. Houck, 72 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Kathy was born October 9, 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Calvin and Viola (Crawford) Nelson. She attended Central High School and went on to continue her education at Stuart’s School of Hair. Kathy worked at Smith’s Company for a couple years before she decided to be a stay-at-home mom.

She married Charles Houck in Elk Point, South Dakota and in this union four children were born: Cassandra, Karlos “Shannon”, Shawn, and Angela. In 1981 Charles and Kathy divorced, and then Kathy moved to Sioux City, Iowa.

Kathy is survived by her children; Cassandra (Dave Nair) Nelson, Karlos “Shannon” (Judy) Houck, Shawn Houck, Angela Miller, Rick (Carol) Houck, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Viola Nelson, son, Terry Houck, two grandchildren, Kade and Leo, two brothers, Bill, and Rex, and three sisters, Georgia, Linda, Dee.
