Kathleen F. Thompson, 68, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at a local hospital. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the First Unitarian Church, 2508 Jackson Street, Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Kathleen was born October 26, 1943 in Sioux City, daughter of Arnold and Marie (Hurlbut) Oehlerking. She graduated high school from Central High in Sioux City. She married Monty Miles Thompson on May 5, 1962. To this union, five children were born. Kathleen and Monty later divorced.

In 1984, Kathleen moved to Minnesota and received a degree in Medical Transcription. In 1995, she moved to Saudi Arabia to be a medical transcriptionist for 13 years. Kathleen retired in June of 2010 and moved back to the United States.

Survivors include her three children Tracey Thompson of South Sioux City, Mark Thompson and his wife Alice of Savage, MN, and Doug Thompson of Sioux City, brothers George Oehlerking and his wife Suzie, Steve Oehlerking and his wife Brenda, Karl Oehlerking, Eric Oehlerking and his wife Laurie, and Fred Oehlerking and his wife Jackie, sisters Mary Swanson and her husband Robert, and Virginia Lynns, grandchildren Amanda Day, Reis and Rory Hardy, and Matthew, Jason, and Anthony Amundson, and great-grandchildren Jameer and Javon Huff.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her daughters Amy Hillstrom and Julia Amundson, and a brother Ray Oehlerking.
