Kathleen (Kathy) Keairns, 71, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away on May 22, 2024, at a care facility in Cape Coral after a short battle with cancer. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 10 am to 1 pm Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Waterbury Funeral Service in Sioux City, Iowa.

Kathy was born on May 10, 1953, in Le Mars, IA, to Leonard and Alma Donnell (Petersen). She attended Central High School and worked in manufacturing until her retirement. From a young age, Kathy had a passion for gardening, which she pursued with dedication until she was no longer physically able.

Known for her boundless kindness, Kathy was a friend to everyone and was always ready to help those in need. She had a deep love for flowers and dogs, finding immense joy in their presence. However, she believed that flowers died too soon and preferred that any gestures intended as flowers be donated to the Siouxland Humane Society in her honor. Kathy cherished her extended family and took great pride in spending time with her grandchildren. She created many lasting memories with them.

Kathy's memory is honored by her husband, James (Jim) Keairns; her children: Jay Williams, Jamie Dik (Keairns), and Jason Keairns; her grandchildren: Caden Dik, Justin Williams, Ashlyn Dik, Piper Keairns, and Cannon Keairns; her sister, Lyn Van Tuyl; and her beloved cat, Oliver.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Alma Donnell; her father-in-law, Kenneth Keairns; her mother-in-law, Nellie Mae Keairns; and her sisters, Pat Easton (Donnell) and Peggy Donnell.

Kathy will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, devotion to family, and the joy she found in gardening and the company of animals. She was a remarkable person who touched many lives with her kindness and generosity. Memorial donations may be made to the Siouxland Humane Society in her honor.
