Karlene Rae Garner, 78, of Salix, IA, passed away surrounded by family and love, on June 17, 2024, at a local hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 22 from 11-1:00 p.m., with a time of sharing at noon, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Karlene was born on January 28, 1946, in Anthon, IA to Carl and Dorothy (Hansen) Bumann. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1964. On February 22, 1984, Karlene met Donald Garner and on October 5, 1991, they married. She retired in 2007 from WinnaVegas Casino after 13 years. Karlene was a creative woman who loved to paint, draw, and write poetry. She enjoyed collecting elephants, drinking hot tea, being in her flower garden and her fairy garden, and yellow roses. Her feisty personality will be missed by many.
Those left to honor her memory include her twin sister with whom she developed their own language, Kathy Limbo; son, Al Jansa; daughter, Karlene McKinney (Sam Ford); daughter Samara (John); daughter Shelli Garner; nephew Cortny, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Garner, and three sons, Eddie Jansa, Shane Garner, and Sean Garner.
