Karen Ann Jump, 61, of North Sioux City, SD, passed away surrounded by her family on September 9, 2026 after a brief battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 14 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Karen was born on February 19, 1965, to Sharon (Orr) and Mike Fox. She was the third daughter of four girls; she was a daddy’s girl right from the start. Karen attended the Jefferson school district, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1983. She was always proud of her Jefferson days- cheerleading, Yearbook Club, and most importantly, her friends. One friend and her led together nearly 20 years, Jeff (Huls) Irish. Together, they had two children, Tisha and Tara. Jeff passed away in 2003, leaving Karen to be a single mama to those then teenage girls, 17 and 13. In 2004, her first grandchild was born, and babies were everything to Karen. She loved the pregnancies (Mainly because she wasn’t the one going through childbirth, she always said) and stories the girls always came to her with. She loved finding the perfect gift for her grandbabies for birthdays and Christmas. She loved being a grandma, probably more than being a mama- because you can sugar em’ up and send em’ home.
Karen worked for Gateway in both production and Security, Interbake Foods, and later helped Tisha clean rental properties in her businesses. Life really found Karen when she met the love of her life, Stanley Jump. For 17 years, they rode motorcycles together, travelled the United States, meeting friends, and strangers everywhere they went. Florida, Arizona, Oklahoma, Kansas, and home- and every path in between was memories. She loved the memory and experience (Not the road trip as she was claustrophobic). She always said it would be a cold day in hell if she ever got married, and it wasn’t too cold, but on September 02, 2023, she married Stan Jump, her daughter Tisha walking her down the aisle surrounded by many friends and family dear to her.
In life, her hobbies were conversations and camping with friends, Coffee, collecting- she was always finding something for someone, and her family. She loved kitties and wildlife, and long ago Jeff coined her “Country Snow White” from her feeding birds and a raccoon. Later on, Stan would nurture this in her final days with bird feeders out her window. She loved her birdies and kitties of the neighborhood.
Karen was proceeded in death by her parents, Sharon and Mike Fox, Special Friend, Jeff Irish, Honorary Brother Troy Weis, several cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.
Left to relish in her memory, Husband, Stan Jump, daughters Tisha Navin (Chris), and Tara Swiercinsky (Jeff), Grandchildren- Xavier, Kaileigh, Madysen Navin; Natalie Fox, Emilie, Jayden and Abbie Swiercinksy; her “Special sister” Brenda, sisters Michelle and Rhonda, many friends and family members.
Please donate to your local charity for the kitties- whether that be food or whatever theymay need, in Karen’s honor.
