June Marie Paronto, 92, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on April 9, 2024.  A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, April 17, at 4:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

June was born on June 9, 1931, in Billings, MT to Harry and Margaret (Fox) Fairburn. She graduated from Billings High School and then she continued her education at Helena College in Montana.  She worked as a nurse at several hospitals, nursing homes, and as a private caregiver.

June was united in marriage to Morris “Gene” Paronto on November 18, 1950, in Billings, Montana, they later moved to Sioux City, IA. in 1964.  In 1987 they moved to Akron, Iowa.  The family’s farmhouse was damaged by fire in 2006 and they moved back to Sioux City IA.

June loved to sew and spend time with her family.  She was a member of Morningside Church of Christ.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Dianna Chase, David Paronto, Lorraine Anderson: sister, Dorris Eccels, 30 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; daughter, Mary Leach, and a grandson, Josiah Vogel.
