Obituary

June I. Murkins, 89, of Sioux City, passed away November 2, 2015 at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center. a visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. A private family burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

June was born on June 10, 1926 in Buffalo, New York, to Raymond and Edna (Widman) Lupke. She moved to Sioux City as a small child and attended East High School, graduating in 1944. She married Milton D. Murkins on November 15, 1945 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. He passed away on April 14, 1975.

June was employed at the Morningside Coast To Coast and Ben Franklin stores for many years, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed drawing and painting, was an accomplished seamstress, and had an extensive doll collection. She was a member of the Siouxland Doll Club and was a longtime member of the Morningside Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her four sons and their wives: Terry (Barbara) of Council Bluffs, IA, Derek (Kelly) of Ft. Morgan, CO, Keith (Linda), and Randy (Mary) both of Sioux City, eight grandchildren: Heather, Ryan, Brad, Kristi, Jason, Casey, Whitney, and Sydney, and ten great grandchildren: Kelsey, Aubrey, Harrison, Pearl, Gavin, Makenzie, Brecken, Annie, Ady, and Tommy.

June was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant brother Peter, and sister Carole Mann.
