Judy Kay (Kathleen) Bowman (Smith), 80, passed away on May 26, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed. A funeral service will be held for family and friends at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sioux City at 11:00am Thursday, May 30, 2024. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Judy was born on July 10, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa, where she spent her childhood. After her school years, she moved to South Sioux City, NE, with her husband, whom she wed in 1959. She worked alongside him while raising their 5 children, and later became a night custodian for the South Sioux City School District, retiring in July 2018. Throughout her career, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.

But more than anything, Judy was a devoted mother. She loved spending time with her children, her grand-/great-grandchildren/great-great-grandchildren, and being outdoors, swinging and sitting by the fire. She always welcomed anyone with a bright smile and open arms. In her free time, Judy enjoyed playing slots and scratch-off tickets.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Earl Bowman; her children, Earl (Len) Bowman, Terry (Bernie) Bowman, Sherri (Jim) Maffit, Jake (Michele) Bowman, and John (Michelle) Bowman, and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by parents Melvin and Vergie Smith; sister - Alma; brothers - Vernon, Russell (Dick), Don, Melvin (Chico), and Chuck; sisters-in-law – Dina, Mary, and Bev; brothers-in-law – Harold and Kenny; parents-in-law – Earl and Liberty Bowman; and daughter in law – Julie Bowman.
