Judith A. "Judy" Lourens, 79, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 19, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 5,2026 at Mater Dei Parish-Church of the Nativity Catholic Church with Father Brad officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 4, from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue.
Judy was born on June 13, 1946 in Anthon, IA, the Daughter of Cyril and Dorthy (Sevening) Carr. She graduated from Heelan High School in 1965. Judy married William “Bill” Lourens on September 24, 1966. Judy worked for Target from the beginning when they opened a store at Southern Hills Mall. She spent almost 30 years working the cash office before her retirement.
Family and friends were very important to Judy as she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. She especially the time with her grandchildren and cherished the summer weeks she was able to spend with them at Lake Okoboji. She also enjoyed her Coca Cola “Classic”, listening to Elvis Presley, creating cards for others with her stamps, scrap booking, and playing cards with her friends. Judy and Bill spent many summers at Lake Okoboji and winters in Lake Havasu, AZ upon retirement.
Survivors include son, Troy (Amber) of Cherokee, IA; Travis (Candy) of Lee's Summit, MO; Grandchildren Kaisha Schnoll (Charlie) of King of Prussia, PA; Reid (Jenny) of Sioux Falls, SD; Bailey (Erica) of Olathe, KS; , and Riley of Fairway, KS; and brother, Joe Carr (Mary) of Sioux City, IA. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jim, Jack, Jerry, Jay, and sister Jenny.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be provided to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center in Sioux City or St. Croix Hospice.
