Juan Topete, 67, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on January 16, 2024.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Juan was born on May 23, 1956 in Guachinango, Jalisco, Mexico to Simon and Traniquilina (Flores) Topete, as the youngest of 9.  He was united in marriage to Ruth Knapp on January 17, 1976. Juan spent years working as an interpreter and translator for his church and the court system.  He enjoyed cooking and spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Ruth Topete; children: Juan I. (Jessica) Topete, Gina (Matt) Weathersby, Memphis, TN, Nick (Jill) Topete, Ryan Topete, Des Moines, IA, Alee (Quentin) Ford; grandchildren: Logan, Dallas, McCall, Jaelyn, Drew, Anna Kate, Jakobe, Avery, and Parker; several brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
