Joye S. Keeler, 77, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, April 1, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery.
Joye was born on February 18, 1939 in Fort Thompson, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Della Emert. Joye graduated high school in Bedford, Iowa. She married Walter Keeler in 1963 and he passed away in 2001.
Among other jobs, Joye was a bartender at Miles Inn and Nifty's. She had also been a waitress for many years. Joye loved karaoke and would often be found singing at Perera's Place.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Ginny) Green of South Sioux City, NE and Lisa (Mike Dawdy) Keeler of Sioux City; grandchildren, Coulter Keeler, Shawntel Dawdy, Dalton Keeler, Kelly Andersen, Marc Anderson, Joseph Prior-Miller, Amanda Medina, Jake Prior-Miller, Seth Mauer, Nikki Lamphear, James Gehrig, and Stefani Kimber; 11great grandchildren; and her canine companion, Josh.
Joye was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; brother, Vernon; and sister, Pearl.
