Josh was born on June 11, 1987 in Sioux City, the son of Kerry and Merilyn (Nutt) Worrell. He graduated from Heelan High School in 2006 and then attended Colorado State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in business, graduating in 2012. At Colorado State, he was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Josh moved back to Sioux City in 2013 and worked at Buffalo Wild Wings and recently started working at Mercy Medical Center as a Pharmacy Tech.
Intelligent, witty, fun, hilarious, and compassionate are five words to describe Josh in writing. But unless you met him, you never fully grasped how important of a person he was to those who knew him as his happiness was contagious. A lover of live games, music, animals, plaid shirts and breaking news on twitter - Josh loved life. He had a great passion for sports and was a devoted fan to his teams. Perhaps a glutton for punishment, he followed and analyzed his Jacksonville Jaguars' every move, preparing for the drafts and suffering through their seasons with a smile on his face all the while ensuring everyone he knew to "just wait till next year." During the fall, he also competed in multiple fantasy football leagues providing commentary to his competitors on the scenarios that would lead to their defeat and ultimately, his triumph. Josh also loved hockey and attended many Musketeers games in Sioux City and Colorado Avalanche games in Denver. He was an avid golfer during the summer playing in a league at Green Valley with his oldest brother, finishing in second place. This was a high achievement he made sure everyone knew about. Josh was also a devoted Phish fan, following the band and grooving along for over 10 years with his brother. If the band was close they would be there, seeing them over 25 times. When he wasn't at the shows he still knew what they were playing and discussed the quality of the music or set lists at length.
Survivors include his parents, Kerry and Merilyn of Sioux City, brothers: Jamie and his wife Leah of Sioux City and Jeremy and his partner Andrea Wogamon of Salt Lake City, Utah, his girlfriend, Emilee Hardy, nephew Ben, with another nephew due in February. Josh is also survived by many friends, aunts, uncles and cousins, stretching across the country.
Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents Art and Mollie Worrell and Dorothy and Merrill Nutt, and cousins Nicole, Sam and J.J.
