Obituary

Joseph Anthony Young, 58, of Sioux City, IA, departed this earth January 5, 2024 of natural causes.  Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Joe was born on February 19, 1965.  Joe's ancestry is linked to the Ballenski family known to be early homesteaders in Walworth County, SD. He graduated from West High in Sioux City, IA.

He enjoyed reminiscing and sentimental feelings recalling significant past experiences. He always had good stories with friends.  He was an avid collector of many different items.  He always enjoyed finding treasures at local thrift shops. He embraced the day wholeheartedly to complete any work that needed to be done.  He was particularly fond of his pets throughout his life.  He loved his 4 wheel drive pickup trucks and wearing fedora hats. He lived his faith in the Holy Spirit.  Joe loved to dance and listen to 90’s R’B pop music.  His infectious laugh will be missed.

The family would like to extend much appreciation to one of Joe's best friends, Mark Closter and the Closter family for their support and friendship of Joe.

Joe is survived by his significant other Lisa Green Sioux City, IA; sister, Angie Young (partner Jacki Leyk) of Minnesota;  brother, Devon Young of Hawaii.

He is preceded in death by his mother; Linda Andrus-Young; grandmother, E. Virginia Bond; and grandfather L. Kenneth Andrus.
