Joseph "Joe"
Patrick Donahoo
June 17, 1984 – September 8, 2025
Joseph "Joe" Donahoo, 41, of Sergeant Bluff, IA, passed away September 8, 2025. A memorial mass will be held Monday, September 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with a rosary beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Lunch will follow the mass, and burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Joseph Patrick Donahoo, was born in Sioux City, Iowa to Gary and Dorothy Donahoo. Joe graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 2003. He attended Universal Technical Institute in Chicago to become a Deisel Mechanic and graduated top of his class. Joe moved to Muskegon, MI and worked for International Trucking for 14 years. He went on to work for the Lake Shore Express in Muskegon. Following his father's death, Joe moved back to Sioux City in 2018 to be near family, and went to work for longtime family friend, Charlie Woodford, at Woodford Enterprises as Shop Foreman in Sergeant Bluff. During the 7 years that he worked there, he found so much joy and contentment doing what he loved, surrounded by friends that were like family. Joe often would regale his mother with hilarious stories that each day seemed to bring, usually late at night sitting on her patio.
Joe enjoyed golfing, fishing, running his dirt bike on the sand dunes of Lake Muskegon, and tinkering with anything that had a motor. With a kind and generous heart, Joe would often help his elderly neighbors and friends with mowing, shoveling, and errands. His laughter, quick wit and easy-going manner made it easy for Joe to make friends wherever he went.
He was the youngest of 5 siblings, with 20 years between youngest and oldest. Though the years between them were long, the family was very close and would often vacation together. Great memories were made that will last a lifetime.
For many years, Joe struggled with Alcoholism. Even with the support of family and friends, Joe was not able to overcome his addiction. He suffered greatly and would have given anything to be able to find peace. In the end, our Lord took him gently home. May he rest in peace.
Joe is survived by his mother, Dorothy Donahoo, 3 sisters, Dianne (Harry) Hansen, Mary (Don) Delozier, Amy (Steven) Bock, and one brother, Michael (Jen) Donahoo, 5 nephews, 3 nieces, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Donahoo, paternal grandparents, Jack and Thelma Smith, maternal grandparents, Gregg and Margaret Schroeder.
A special thank you to the Woodford Family for all their love and support given to Joe, especially over this last year.
