Obituary

John R. Marrinan, 81 of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024, at a local hospital. Memorial Services will be held 12:00pm Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

John was born on October 13, 1942, to John and Ester (Hible) Marrinan in Shakopee, MN.  He was raised on a farm and in 1964 his family moved to Sioux City.  John enlisted in the United States Army in 1959. He was united in marriage to Joann Manners in December of 1964; in December of 1992 she passed away. John then was married to Fern, she passed in 2023.

John obtained his private pilot’s license in 2001. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #508, Past Master, Sioux City Scottish Rite, Abu Bekr Shrine, Ritualistic Divan, and the Abu Bekr Wrecking Crew. He was also a member of the Sergeant Bluff American Legion Post 662.

He loved to work at the Lodge, Scottish Rite, and with the Shriners. John trucked his whole life, over the road, in his own semi.

Those left to honor his memory include his sons: Keith Marrinan, Jason (Jackie) Marrinan, Heath (Carmen) Marrinan; grandchildren: Matt, Sam, Nate, and Sophia Marrinan; and great-grandson, Jason.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joann.
