John R. Crichton, 72 of Moville, Iowa passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at a hospital in Sioux City. Celebration of Life will be held from 2-5pm Saturday, November 20,at the Waterbury Funeral Service, 4125 Orleans Ave in Sioux City.

John Robert Crichton was born June 9, 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Donald and Ferne (Carr) Crichton. He grew up in the Hornick and Climbing Hill area, graduating from Woodbury Central High School. On September 6, 1968 John married Marla Wadsworth in Climbing Hill. Together they made their home in Sioux City. He joined the Army and served during the Vietnam War. Upon John’s return, the couple made their home near Hornick, IA., and, in 1989, they moved to Moville.

Over the years John worked in farming, and later for Schaeffs, Auto Parts and Exchange in Moville, and at the Moville CO-OP, finally owning his own business, “John’s Small Engine Repair”. He was a member of the Sergeant Bluff American Legion Post #662. He enjoyed restoring old muscle cars, working on small engines, and drag racing with his 1965 Chevelle.

He is survived by his wife, Marla of Moville, IA, two sons, Scott (Barb) Crichton, Brian (Heather) Crichton both of Sioux City, seven grandchildren, two brothers, Ronald (Norma) Crichton of Florida, Dennis (Sonja) Crichton of Kansas, and two sisters, Beverly Ahrens of Sioux City, Karen Crichton of California.

John is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jim.
