John M. Bolin, 68 of Glenwood, Iowa, formerly of George, Iowa, died Friday, October 30, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, November 7th at the Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood. Burial will be 1:00pm Saturday, November 7 in the Glenwood Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the US Army. Visitation will be at the church from 4-8 pm Friday. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 11th, at 1:30 pm at the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church in George.

John was born in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Darrell and Lillian (Marsh) Bolin. John graduated from the Abraham Lincoln High School in 1966. He attended Simpson College in Indianola, then graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas in 1969. In 1970, John enlisted in the Army and served overseas in Vietnam. Upon his discharge, he worked at the Cutler Funeral Home in Council Bluffs.

John was united in marriage to Joyce Goodman on February 24, 1973 in Council Bluffs. In 1975, John bought the Vogelaar Funeral Home in George. He owned and operated Bolin Funeral Home in George until retiring in 2011.

John is survived by his wife Joyce, their son, Jason Bolin and his wife Jackie; his granddaughter Janica Bolin and his grandsons Marcus and Marquette Bolin; his father, Darrell Bolin and his sister, Charlotte Sheldon; and his brother and sister-in-laws, Ted and Margaret Goodman, Frieda and Don Kahl, Richard Goodman and Darrel Goodman and Ilene and Mike Johnson.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Bolin.
