Joel J. Hunter, 51 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at a local hospital. Family will hold a private Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City is assisting family with arrangements.

Joel James Hunter was born on January 15, 1970 in Merced California. He attended Sioux City Schools. Joel began working at McDonald's, later KB Toys and then at Payless Shoes, where he was a manager until health issues forced him to retire during 2015.

Joel was really a big kid at heart, he enjoyed collecting action figures and playing video games, writing poetry, and spending time with family and friends. He loved the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Joel is survived by his four sons Jakob, Caleb, Gabriel and Aiden, two daughters Payton and Haley, and one brother, Jason (Jennifer) Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his mother Sharon Allen and his step-father Robert Allen.
