Jody Camille Gardner, age 59, of Sioux City passed away on Monday September 30, 2013 at a local hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday October 4, 2013 at 10:30 am from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City with Father Michael Erpelding officiating. Interment will follow in the Mc Cook Lake Cemetery at North Sioux City, South Dakota. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8 pm with the family present 6-8 pm and a Vigil service held at 7:00 pm at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Jody was born in Sioux City on April 15, 1954, the daughter of Craig Allen and Beverly June “Vanderbush” Holloway. She attended Sioux City Community Schools and graduated from East High School with the class of 1972.
She was united in marriage with Steve Gardner on March 17, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jody was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She worked as a bartender for a number of years at Taylor’s Tap and was later employed in production at American Popcorn Company until her illness forced her early retirement in 2005.
Jody had a wonderful sense of humor, that she shared with everyone she came into contact with, she a big heart and had a stubborn streak at times. She was very artistic and loved working with her hands, she truly enjoyed cake decorating, and all arts and crafts.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and formerly was a volunteer at the Siouxland Community Blood Bank.
Jody will be missed by her family which includes her husband Steve (Spike) of Sioux City; her sons Benjamin Polak of Sioux City, and Scott Boeshart of Maple Grove, Minnesota, her daughters: Elizabeth Barnard and Tammy Palmersheim and her husband Steve both of Sioux City. She is also survived by her brothers Jimmy of Huron, South Dakota, and Jay of Anamosa, Iowa and her sisters Janie Carla Luchene of Yuma, Arizona and Joetta Carne Holloway of Sioux City, along with her five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Jon and Jeff.
