Joan G. Swanger, 70 of Lawton, IA, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Lawton Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Banner township cemetery Lawton, IA. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral of Sergeant Bluff.

Joan Geraldine Swanger was born September 2, 1946 in LeMars, IA. the daughter of Vernon and Joyce (Peterson - Lee) Goodvin. She graduated from LeMars High School in 1964. On October 14, 1967 she married Terry and they lived in Sioux City, IA., in the early 1970’s they lived in Sioux Falls, SD for a while, then moving back to the Bronson, IA. area. Joan worked at several businesses during the years; she retired in 1994 from the Sioux City County Club.

She loved to travel, shop, garden, scrapbook and take pictures. Joan loved to spoil her grandchildren (they would call her grandma Coo-Coo), and her two cats Minnie and Mittens. Joan was a member of the Lawton Presbyterian Church.

Joan is survived by her husband Terry, two sons; Michael of Jefferson, SD., and Chad (Amy) of San Jose, CA., one daughter Jennifer (Jon) Ernst of North Sioux City, SD., three brothers; Virgil Goodvin of Sloan, IA., Bobby Goodvin of Sioux City, IA., and Larry Goodvin of Phoenix, AZ., one sister, Linda Goodvin of Minneapolis, three grandchildren; Tyler, Emily, and Christian, as well as her dear friends.

She preceded in death by her parents and one brother Bill Goodvin.
