Joan Marie Blair

Joan Marie Blair, 88, of Sioux City, IA, passed away January 6, 2026. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. at First Evangelical Free Church in Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 12 from 4-6 with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Joan was born on July 18, 1937 in Elgin, NE to James “Raymond” and Violet (Wagner) Good. She married David Lee Blair on August 28, 1955 in Neligh, NE. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1957 and then the family moved to Roselle, IL in 1964. In 1965, they moved back to Sioux City. She worked in the cafeteria at North Middle school. In 1997, Dave and Joan ran their own business, Blair Escorting, driving pilot cars for road construction.

Joan was a long time member of First Evangelical Free Church. She loved music, the Nebraska Huskers, gardening, her many plants, playing games and feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Steve (Daralyn) Blair of Monett, MO, Colleen Blair of Sioux City, and Tammy (Doug) Schnetzer of Hinton;  sisters: Myrtle Blair and Marilyn Schutt of NE; grandchildren: Kristy Schnetzer, Travis (Melissa) Blair, Michael (Angela) Schnetzer, Amber (Steve) Schnetzer, Tina Blair, Heather Kroll; adopted grandson, Paul (Nicole) Clifton; and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David and great granddaughter, Madison Schnetzer.

Memorials may be made in Joan's name to First Evangelical Free Church.
