James M. “Jim” Lamoureux, 73 of Sioux City passed away peacefully Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at his home. Funeral Mass will be at St. Boniface Catholic Church at 10:00 am Thursday, February 1, 2024. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday, with vigil service at 7pm at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.  Burial will take place at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Akron, Iowa at a later date.

James Matthew Lamoureux was born in Akron, Iowa to Loyd and Agnes (Bay) Lamoureux. Jim’s family moved several times while growing up so he took great pride being able purchase his forever home primarily with cash back in 1976. In 1982 he married Linda (Bottjen) and together they raised three children.

Jim spent 25 years working the parts counter at American Auto, making many friends and memories. He went on to work in the ovens department at Interbake Foods for 25 years retiring in 2013. After “retiring”, he worked as a shop hand and parts runner at his daughter and son in law’s shop, Nic’s Fleet Service, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.

Jim enjoyed dancing, riding a motorcycle, tinkering in the garage, Friday night dinner club, and going to car shows. He was a life long classic car enthusiast, owning, fixing, and restoring countless cars over the years.

Jim was a loyal parishioner of St. Boniface Catholic Church and in more recent years of St. Joseph, both of Sioux City.

Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda; daughters Nicole (Husband, Nick) Stansbury and Maggie (Fiancé, Brock Ritchie) Lamoureux, his son James Lamoureux, Jr.; his sister, Jeanine Newton; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Serenity, and Elly Stansbury, Lakyn Minor, Landen, Austyn, and Briar Ritchie. He is preceded in death by his parents; father in law, Orlin Bottjen; brother in law Tim Bottjen as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
