Jeremy Jay Hogue, 41, of Sioux City, IA, passed away October 7, 2024, after a courageous battle with alcoholism. A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Jeremy was born on January 27, 1983, in Sioux City, IA to Mark and Deborah (Dickinson) Hogue. He graduated from Whiting High School in 2001. Jeremy was a talented, talkative, a fix anything, and help anyone out at any time, kind of guy. He loved working with his hands, fishing, walking, being outdoors, animals and humans, and the Buffalo Bills. He lived large and drove fast into challenges, but he also struggled with life; with always thinking he should be more, with navigating this world and with a powerful disease called alcoholism. Heartfelt thank-you’s to all who reached out to him, Hope Street of Siouxland, (which gave him a reprieve for a while), Sioux City Police Department, Fire and Rescue, and Mercy One Staff; there are no words that can express the depth of our gratitude.
Those left to honor his memory include his parents: Deborah Deboer, Mark and bonus Mom Lorrie Hogue, his brothers Josh Hogue, Ryan (Kaitlyn) Hogue and Mark Jr. (Katie) Hogue; 9 nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
To everyone, anywhere, at anytime that struggles with alcoholism, addiction, mental illness, or just trying to navigate this world... I beg you to reach out, even if you feel you don’t deserve it. Especially then, you don’t have to do it alone. The universe created a space for you in this world for a reason…You Matter.
