Jeffrey "Jeff" Perera

Jeffrey "Jeff" Donald Perera, 48, of Sioux City, IA, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025.  A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. A celebration of his life will continue at The Corner Pocket at 1:00 p.m.

Jeff was born on October 15, 1976, in Sioux City, Iowa to Donald Perera and Mary Browning.  He graduated from East High School, and was united in marriage to Jennifer Whitlock on July 2, 2014, in Sioux City.  Jeff worked construction in Sioux City for many years and spent 11 years as a Union Carpenter for Klinger Construction. In his free time, he liked to tinker with go-karts and build minibikes, you could always find him in the garage with his tools. His family was extremely important to him, and Jeff loved the time he spent with them, especially his grandson Karson. Together they would play board games, dice, cards, go camping, and fishing. Jeff loved kids and was always horsing around with his nieces and nephews at family gatherings, he was a true kid at heart. Jeff also had a love for animals, especially his dogs: Princess, Kea, Apollo, & Honey. He was an avid pool player and a proud member of the Robin Hood Foundation.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jennifer Perera; children: Tayler, Quentin, Aiden, and Brennan; grandkids: Karson, Addilyn, Oakley, and Ivory; grandfather: Jerry Perera; stepmother: Colleen Perera; siblings: Denis Merrill, Mike Merrill, Shaun (Melissa) Vincent, and Melissa (Mike) Gleiser; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents; grandmother, Joann Perera; brother, Greg Perera, father-in-law, Patrick Whitlock, brother-in-law, David Whitlock, sister-in-law, Lindsey Whitlock, and his dogs, Princess and Kea.
