Jeffrey "Jeff" Joseph Sachau, 64, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away surrounded by his family on March 17, 2025.  A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 22 from 10:00-1:00 p.m., with a time of sharing at noon, at Waterbury Funeral Service at 4125 Orleans Ave, Sioux City.

Jeff was born March 7, 1961, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Harry and Dolores Sachau. He graduated from Heelan High School in 1979. Other than a short period of time living in Texas, Jeff was a lifelong resident of Sioux City.  Jeff was married to Rhonda Doupe-Sachau in 2006 and was heartbroken from her passing in 2019.

Jeff was very hard working and spent most of his years as a heavy equipment operator. For the past several years he worked for the Union of Operating Engineers Local 234. Jeff was a dedicated and active “Papa” to his grandchildren. He loved being a papa more than anything in the world. Jeff was a kind and giving man who would drop everything to help his people and strangers alike.

Survivors include his children, Kelly Sachau; Patrick Sachau; and Sara Anderson and her husband DJ, all of Sioux City; stepchildren, Josh Doupe of Sioux City and Tess McWilliams and her husband Marc of Oceanside, CA; grandchildren, Kylie Westhoff of Le Mars, Corben, Xander and Cooper Knaack of Sioux City; Ryan Sachau of Theodosia, MO; Talon and Tenley Anderson of Sioux City; and Bailey Hagestrom of Sioux City; siblings, Bobbette (Greg) Theroux of Des Moines, Julie Stickrod of Sioux City, Terri (Mark) Avery of McCook Lake, S.D., Sue (Monte) Stusse of Sioux City, Lisa Sachau of Des Moines, Jill (Pat) Considine of Sioux City, and Rebecca (Gary) Smith of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeff was proceeded in death by his wife, Rhonda Doupe-Sachau; parents, Harry and Dolores Sachau; brothers, Tim and Pat Sachau; and his grandparents.
