On Thursday, March 26, 2026, Jeanette Spidell of Bronson, Iowa passed away after a brief illness peacefully in her home, surrounded by family. She was a vibrant 88 years old. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jeanette was born February 10, 1938, in Sioux City, Iowa to Otto and Berniece (Guffy) Lammers. She attended Sioux City Public Schools, and graduated from East High School in 1956. After her graduation she met the love of her life, Jack Arthur Spidell. The two were wed on August, 20th, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa at Trinity Lutheran Church. They resided in Sioux City, Iowa for several years. During this time Jeanette and her family decided to pursue their dream of living on an acreage and moved to Bronson, IA. A caring and hardworking individual, Jeanette had many hobbies she enjoyed. She was often found outside fulfilling her love for yard work and gardening. She loved taking care of animals over the years and camping and fishing with her family every weekend. She enjoyed bird watching, plants, candle making, sewing, crocheting, and all kinds of critters. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother. Jeanette spent her whole life taking care of others and will be missed immensely by many. Those left to honor her memory include her two children, Lori Troupe, Waterloo, IA, Rick Spidell, Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren, Karinsa, Nadea (Bryan), Nikaila, Ciara, Troy (Saron), Trevor; 12 great-grandchildren: Syilehst, Chase, Breyanna, Alayna, Kirayla, Michael Jr., Tristen, Logan, Keona Mae, Cooper and Andrew; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; son-in-law, Bruce Troupe and daughter-in-law, Avis Spidell; and a sister, Jeanie Lammers.
