Janice Florene Bundy, age 80, of Sergeant Bluff passed away peacefully on Monday September 24, 2012 at her home in Sergeant Bluff with her family surrounding her.

Private services were held for the family. Visitation with the family present will be held on Saturday from 5-7pm at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. She will be cremated following the visitation. Online condolences for the family may be made at www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Janice was born in Sioux City on June 19, 1932, the daughter of Wilfred and Estella (McCrystal) Walker, She was a lifelong resident of the Sioux City area. She was married to Bernie Powell in 1957. Except for eight years she spent in Fredonia, AZ.she made her home in the Sioux City area. She was united in marriage with Merlin Bundy in 2000 who preceded her in death in 2007.

Janice was employed for more than 27 years for Woodbury County, serving the final 12 years as Deputy Auditor.Later she was a teacher’s assistant in the Arizona School System. She formerly attended the Church of Latter Day Saints until her health declined.

Janice was an active member of the community, formerly serving as a 4H Leader, volunteering with the American Cancer Society and supporting the Democratic Party She hosted Senator Richard Gephart in her home during his presidential campaign.

Janice is survived by her son Michael Garvin and wife Clara of Bronson, daughters: Colleen Nielsen and husband Wayne of Sergeant Bluff, and Koni Roche-Eilders and husband Jim of Green Mountain, Iowa. She is also survived by two brothers Rodney Walker and wife Crystal of Newton, IA., and Charles Walker and wife Nancy of Lakewood N.J. her 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Jeffrey Powell, grandson Jeramy Shupe, sister Geraldine Stinger, and son-in-laws: Bill Mc Corkindale and Terrance Roche.
