Jan Paul Olson passed away Tuesday November 21, 2023, from natural causes at his Sioux City residence. There will be a Celebration of Life at the home of Jan & Patti Olson Friday, December 1, 2023, at 6pm.

Jan was born August 12, 1945, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.  He had 2 brothers and 3 sisters.  Jan served in the U.S. Army for over 21 years. He worked another 20 plus years for the US Government as a civil servant. He worked in Long Beach at the Naval Hospital and then went on the Denver, Colorado where he retired from the Defense Finance Accounting Services (DFAS).

Jan met his wife Patti Olson in Long Beach CA. in 1986 and they were married in June of 1989.  Jan’s hobbies included, bowling, pool, playing with his grand and great grandchildren, and watching westerns on TV, however, his true passion was watching his beloved Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers during football season.

He is survived by his only son, Daniel Olson of California, 4 stepchildren: Buffie (Eddie) Touchette of New Boston, TX, Tracey (Andy) Pomerson, Jim (Angie) Holcomb, and Sonora Swords (Kyle Uhl) all of Sioux City, IA, 7 grandchildren: Gary Sewell of Sioux City, IA,  Antony (Flora) Sewell of Waxahachie, TX, Dillion Touchette of  New Boston, TX, Vincent Pomerson of Sioux City, IA, Jon Holcomb of Sioux City, IA,  Alyssia Holcomb (Destin Reed) of Smithton, IL, Michael Jones of South Sioux City, NE. as well as 5 great grandchildren, with one on the way, his two brothers, Michael Olson of Mosinee, WI, Eric Olson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, 3 sisters, Sandy Hall of Plainfield, WI, Debra Krings of Wisconsin, Rapids WI., and Karen Kranz of Las Vegas, NV., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jan is proceeded in death by his parents and wife, Patti.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Jan’s grandson Gary Sewell for taking care of Jan after the passing of his wife Patti Olson.
