Jamie LeRoy Dicks, 51, our beloved brother, uncle, and friend of Hornick, IA died peacefully at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, IA surrounded by his loving family on May 5.
Memorial services will be held 10 am Saturday, May 14th at Westwood Community School in Sloan, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Climbing Hill Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Jamie came into this world on June 5, 1964 to Leo and Maxine Dicks and was greeted by his five older brothers and sisters who loved him dearly. Jamie was raised in Hornick and attended Westwood Community School where he loved to play baseball. His favorite memory was going to state in baseball with “a bunch of great guys”. In 1983 he graduated from Westwood. Jamie worked at the Westwood School, which became his second family. At the school anyone could see him playing tricks on the teachers and staff or helping kids open their milk containers during lunch.
Jamie was the jack of all trades, loved to ride motorcycles, watch Nascar with his friends, play baseball, but mostly spending time with his family and friends.
Left to cherish Jamie’s memories are his three brothers; Larry (Evelyn) Dicks of Anthon, Steve (Kathy) Dicks of Hornick, Randy(Eric Gebo) Dicks,of Tampa, FL, two sisters; Peggy (Phillip) Feddersen of Port Orange, FL, Kathy (Scott) Blakely of Smithland, two aunts; Phyllis Dowlling of Hornick , Dolores Hayworth of Garner and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces.
Jamie was preceded in death, and to be reunited in heaven with his parents Leo and Maxine Dicks.
