Obituary

James R. "Jim" Scott, 66 of Sioux City, died Friday, April 3, 2015 at a local hospital.
Funeral Services will be 11 am Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. with Rev. Gene Stockton officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation 4-8 pm Monday at the funeral home, with the family present 6-8 pm and a Prayer Service at 7 pm. Online condolences may be sent to www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

James Richard Scott was born on August 4, 1948 in Sioux City, the son of Richard and Leona (Blatchford) Scott. He graduated from East High School in 1966 and then attended Morningside College. Jim was married to Kathleen Heilman in 1967. In 1968, Jim enlisted in the Army and was a helicopter Air Traffic Controller in Alabama. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the Sioux City area and worked for F.W. Means as a route delivery driver, and then he lived and worked in the Lawton-Bronson area working on a farm.

Jim later worked at Security National Bank at nights working on their computer systems. On October 1, 1977, he was married to Marilyn Baker. During the 1990’s he owned and operated S.S. Coe Screen Printing Company. Jim later worked construction jobs and most recently, part time at Sioux City Ford.

Jim loved being with his grandchildren, and he enjoyed fishing, camping and being outdoors. He was a sports fan, who followed the Iowa Hawkeyes, Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Bears.

Jim is survived by his wife Marilyn; his 2 sons Rick (Mara) Scott of Lawton and Steve (Molly) Scott of Spirit Lake; his 2 daughters Barb Scott of McCook Lake and Pam (Joe) Frangedakis of Nebraska City; his 6 grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Parker Hinrichs, Laurel Frangedakis and Piper Frangedakis, Mackenzie Scott and Avery Scott; his mother Leona Young of Sioux City; and his brother, Bob (Karen) Scott of Sioux City; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard Scott in 1962, his step-father, Vern Young in 2009, his paternal grandparents Lester and Jessie Scott, his maternal grandparents Raymond and Imogene Blachford and his father in-law, Samuel Baker.
