Obituary

James "Jimmy" Shikrey Rehal, 55, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on October 27, 2025. A Latin Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4:00 p.m., with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a vigil at 4:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Jimmy was born on July 28, 1970 in Sioux City, Iowa to James Michael and Kathryn (Murray) Rehal. He graduated from West High School in 1990, with help from his favorite teacher, Mrs. Geraldine DiPerno. He worked a study program at St. Luke’s for about a year. Jimmy was a Morningside icon. He was a true social butterfly and could often be seen walking throughout the neighborhoods, passing out rosaries and having friendly conversations.

He was an ambassador of his faith. Jimmy was strong in his faith and a devoted Catholic. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Church and currently St. Boniface Catholic Church. He attended confession nearly every day.

Jimmy enjoyed listening to 80’s music, Gregorian chant, feeding the birds, and trips to the Florida ocean to visit his brother. Jimmy was a kindhearted, good man who will forever be remembered and missed by many.

Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Jim and Kathy Rehal; siblings: Traci (Chris) Comer, Angie (Scott) Bennett, and Tony Rehal; nieces and nephews: Nicole (Jose) Wandercheid, Courtney Wanderscheid, Gabriel, Serenity, and Noah Comer, Brigette (Zach) and Brenden Bennett; great-nieces and nephews: Xavier, Olivia, Hattie, and a baby on the way; several aunts, uncles, and cousins and special friend Abbie Patel.

He is preceded in death by a baby sibling and his grandparents: Shikrey and Mary Rehal and Michael and Faye Murray.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Abbie Patel, who took such good care of Jimmy and was always there for him. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, tech staff, and CNAs at Unity Point as well as Care Initiatives Hospice for all of their wonderful care.
