James D.  “Star” Rask, 65 of Estherville, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at a hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

James was born January 11, 1957 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Carl and Bonnie (Butler) Rask. He attended Woodrow Wilson School in Sioux City. In the early 2000’s Star moved to Estherville, Iowa.

"Star" enjoyed fishing and had several stray cats that he took care of. He would call them his “crew.” Growing up his family nicknamed him “wippy.” All of his friends called him Star.

He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Malcom; two sisters, Sandra Malcom (her friend Chau Gonzalez) and Debbie (Donald) Florke.

Star is preceded in death by his father; his brother, Joseph Earl Malcom, Jr.; and two sisters Linda Deann Bush, and Susie Kay Girard.
