James L. Elwell, 44, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at a local hospital. Services will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service with Rev. Gene Stockton and Timothy Hall officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm Friday at the funeral home.

Jim was born on January 2, 1969, in Denison, Iowa, the son of James and Roberta (Anderson) Elwell. Jim graduated from East High School in 1987; following graduation, Jim joined the Navy for four years. He married Michelle Fitzgerald on August 26, 2000 in Sioux City. Jim enjoyed watching Cowboys football and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhart, Sr. and Kevin Harvick. He also enjoyed going fishing. Jim was a member of The Heartland Community Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle and their son Jacob, of Sioux City, parents Jim and Roberta Elwell of Jefferson, SD, brother Scot Elwell and wife Amy of Sioux City, niece Ashley Cote of Sioux City, mother-in-law Deb Fitzgerald of Sioux City, and special friends Brad and Leann Henkel and family.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Arlene Elwell and Lyle and Darlene Anderson, Uncle Curt Elwell, and Cousin Brian Elwell.
