James A. Johnson, 80 of Sioux City, Iowa passed Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. Services will be held 4:00pm Friday, August 12, 2022, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Public Visitation will be held from 3-5pm at the funeral home. Family only visitation from 2-3pm. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy.

James was born May 6, 1942, in Lake Park, Minnesota the son of Carl and Hildred (Dokken) Johnson. He grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Lake Park High School. Jim married Nancy Johnson, she later passed in 2014. In the mid 1990’s they moved to Sioux City. Jim started work at John Morrell in 1996 as a USDA Meat Inspector, retiring in 2006.

Jim enjoyed being with his friends at the Tav on The Ave.

He is survived by his son, Daniel Johnson "DJ"; daughter-in-law, Kanique; three grandchildren, Trayvon, Khaiellie, Tavian; Tavian's mother, Vimala Chanthavong who was a close friend of Jim's; sister Sandi (Dave) Heltemes and Nancy’s dog Tuxie.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; brother, Ronnie Johnson; and sister, Dalene Braseth.
