IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James "Little
Jim" Robert Berglund
February 5, 1950 – June 7, 2021
James Robert Berglund was born Sunday, February 5, 1950 in Cherokee, Iowa to Kenneth and Sally (Hanlon) Berglund. Jim grew up in rural Larrabee. He attended college at the Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa studying their feed and fertilizer farming program. Jim married Linda Crane March 4, 1972 at the Methodist Church in Aurelia, Iowa. They started their life together in LeMars, Iowa and then moved to Sioux City after Jim started a new job with Williams TV and Appliance. Jim and Linda eventually decided to reconnect with their farming background and moved to the rural Hinton, Iowa area for his remaining 35 years.
Jim was highly involved for over 25 years in the wrestling community. He attended many tournaments and supported coaches and players alike. Jim was a fan of tractor pulls, often making friends with the farmers that would attend the events to show the abilities of their tractors. Jim, thanks to his daughter Shanda, was an avid fan of Autocross Car Racing. He followed many racers with the Sports Card Club of Siouxland based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He could be found soaking in lots of sun at the Sioux Empire Fair parking lot and shooting the breeze with any racer about cars.
Jim was an avid collector of many things. Those include tractors that he had used in real life and a small-scale display toy farm that included many real to life items such as equipment, buildings and such. He collected slot cars, toy cars and trucks and assembled many model cars, trucks and slot cars in his spare time. Each year Jim looked forward to attending Trashing Bee in Albert City, Iowa and the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa. Jim also loved riding snowmobile. He affectionately called his snowmobile his “first wife”. In later years, Jim’s largest joy was his grandchildren and following their schooling, activities and future plans.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Berglund; his daughter Shanda (Dustin) Gronseth of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; son Dwight (Tara) Berglund of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; grandchildren Tristan, Sophia, Skylar, Kendra, and Owen; brother Jerry (Julie) Berglund; sisters Jan (John) Small and Julie Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jeannie Mohr and John Berglund.
