James R. Glann, 83, of Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of Sioux City, IA, passed away Dec 14, 2010, following a battle with lung cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am on Monday, December 20, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. Michael J. Erpelding officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors conducted by the US Navy. Visitation Sunday 4-8 pm, with the family present 6-8 pm at Waterbury Funeral Service.

James Richard Glann was born February 15, 1927 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Ruth Glann. He graduated from East High School in 1945. He enlisted in the Navy during WWII and afterwards attended Morningside College. He spent the majority of his life working as a cattle trader/buyer. James met Mary Louise Courey at a V.A.U. Navy/Marine Corp unit and they married a year later in July 1953. They and their six children lived in Iowa, Texas and eventually settled in Oklahoma City in 1972 where he retired from being in the cattle business.

He was a member of Christ the King Parish and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 12. He was devoted to his family and his faith, enjoyed reading, crafting objects out of metal, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with those he loved.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise, their six children, Dr. Alan Glann and his wife, Susan of Lewiston, Maine, Cynthia Cunningham and her husband, Bill of Oklahoma City, OK, Mark Glann and his wife, Lina of Midwest City, OK, Valerie Glann and her husband, Tom Calvin of Gilbert, AZ, Judith Glann Mitchell and her husband, John of Albuquerque, NM, Mary Catherine Glann and her husband Donald Wieland of Fountain Valley, CA; two brothers, Kenneth W. Glann of Arvada, CO, and Roger E. Glann of Tolland, Connecticut; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
