James M. "Jim" Corzine, 73, of Sioux City died peacefully Wednesday July 9, 2014 at the home of his daughter after an extended illness.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 am to 1 pm Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue. Military Honors and Flag Presentation  will be provided by the US Army at Noon.

A celebration of Jim's life will be from 11:00 to 1:00 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Jim was born February 12, 1941 in Sioux City to Harold W. "Curly" and Florence E. (Ogburn) Corzine.  He attended Sioux City East High School through 1958, after which he began working in the shops of various auto dealers in Sioux City.  He was drafted into the Army and served his country as a courier, stationed in Korea, attaining his GED and a couple of years of college credits before his discharge.

He married Pam Coe in 1965. His daughter Carrie was born in 1968.  They later divorced but have always remained best of friends.

After completing his service, Jim returned to working in service departments for auto dealers in Sioux City, eventually opening his own business, Jim's Body Shop, at first in Sioux City, and eventually in Moville, IA.  After closing his business, he moved to Arizona and managed an auto dealership, until returning to Sioux City to be present for the birth of his grandsons, James & Matthew.  Shortly after his return, became the manager of 4-Star Auto in Sioux City, and more recently doing body work out of a small garage until his health would no longer allow him to work.

Having time to enjoy more of life, Jim enjoyed fishing, traveling around the area, attending auctions, and tinkering.  He was a very good tinkerer.  More than those activities, Jim most enjoyed visiting with family, friends and neighbors, and helping others where he could.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Carrie Verbeski and her husband, Dan; his grandsons, Jim Olson and Matt Olson; his step-grandsons, Jason Verbeski and his partner Carla Hanson, and Zachary Verbeski; his brother, David Corzine and his daughter and family, Lori and Mark Erickson and their children Cody and Erik; His nieces and their families: Shelly Adams and her daughter Chelsea Hardesty; Belinda and Chuck Webb and their children, Chucky Webb and Hope and Ed French and their children Hailey, Logan, and Eric; Becky & Clay Ferguson and their daughter, Katlin; and Tracy Fortune and her children Robert & Courtney Fortune; His ex-wife, Pam Corzine and her partner, Lee Meuhlberg; his "adopted" grandson Jake Pomeroy, his former brother-in-law, Rick and Linda Coe and their children , and his cat, Maya.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Florence, his beloved sister Lois and her husband Bill, as well as their son, Billie, and his loving companion Oliver "Ollie", who was waiting for him on the other side.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Mercy Medical Center, who gave dad such good and kind care over the years, Hospice of Siouxland, who made it possible for Jim to be at home, and a special thanks to Dr. Stavens and his nurse Lisa, who saved Jim's life on more than one occasion, and without whom it would not have been possible for us to enjoy Jim's company for as long as we were blessed to.  Lastly, thank-you to Jim's friends and neighbors, who showed him kindnesses, helped him in a thousand different ways, and whom he valued very deeply.
