James A. “Buzz” LaScala, 88, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at a local hospital. A private graveside service will be held at Logan Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Buzz was born on November 15, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa to Genaro and Florence (Magnuson) LaScala. He enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1958 and was honorably discharged. Buzz was an avid sports fan - never missing a big game, going to the racetrack, golfing, handball and a few big fishing trips to Canada. He loved silly songs, his own jokes, and was quite the artist who was constantly doodling.

Left to honor his memory are his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
