Jacquelyn “Jacquie” Tay Rygh, 94, of Sioux City, IA, passed away April 27,2024. A Celebration of Life will be held May 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at 10.00 a.m. at St. James Global Methodist Church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Jacquie was born on April 19, 1930, in Sioux City, IA to Worth and Pauline (Moravec) Waltermire. She graduated from Central High School in 1948. In 1950, she was united in marriage to John H. Rygh. He preceded her in death in 2007. Jacquie worked as a receptionist at IPS, which is now MidAmerican Energy. She was proud to be a contributor and Tailwagger fundraiser for the “Little Yellow Dog”, which her father had started in 1936. She was also a volunteer with the Shriners and would accompany families to the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Jacquie was a long-time member of St. James Global Methodist Church; her faith was very important to her. She enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing and spending time with her grandkids. For the past several years, she enjoyed the companionship of Fred Wells, traveling and spending time together.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Scott (Connie) Rygh and Daniel (Judy) Rygh daughter-in-law, Mary Rygh.; grandchildren: Ryan, Jack, Mike, Annah, and Lauren Rygh and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father Worth Waltermire and her mother Pauline (Moravec) Waltermire; husband, John; son, Kerry; and sisters: Davadene Compton and Gloria Sather.
