Jacqueline “Jacque” Joy Gowen, 77, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 26, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Jacque was born on January 20, 1949 in Indianola, IA to Eldon and Martha Cummings. She graduated high school and went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa where she received her degree in education. Jacque worked at the Woodbury County Courthouse as a clerk for over 40 years. She loved to read on her kindle and spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her friend, Nancy Petersen; children: Damion Gowen-Petersen, Katie Gowen-Petersen, Sam Gowen-Petersen, Martin Gowen-Petersen; grandchildren: Elijah Lingle, Jamari Fields, Ja-Laysa Fields, and Jakari Fields.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Paul and Dan Cummings; sister, Shirley During.
